Lashes FAQ & Aftercare
WHAT REASONS IS THERE TO GET EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Not only do eyelash extensions feel and look 100% natural; it will also no longer be necessary to use mascara. This means that you’ll be able to spend less time applying makeup each day, while still being able to shower, swim and perform all of your other regular activities as before. Eyelash extensions will give you the long, luscious lashes that you’ve always wanted and they will make your eyes look a lot more defined as well. Having them placed is also a completely pain-free procedure.
ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS LONG-LASTING?
In most cases, eyelash extensions should last as long as your natural lashes – an average of between 3 and 4 weeks. However, the longevity of them will also depend on factors such as general lifestyle, your daily cleansing routine, skin type, average lash growth cycle and the type of makeup products you use (if applicable). Having an touch-up performed every 2 to 4 weeks will help maintain the fullness of your eyelash extensions virtually indefinitely.
HOW SAFE ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Having eyelash extensions applied is a completely safe and pain-free procedure because your eyes remain closed throughout the procedure and a specialist adhesive is used to apply the extensions. The extensions are applied to the eyelashes themselves, and provided that they are applied correctly, will not cause damage to original lashes. In most cases, the lashes with extensions will shed every 6 weeks or so, so if you want to use lash extensions over the long term, you may want to consider using them in conjunction with an eyelash serum product. How long does it take?Attaching the lashes normally takes anywhere from 1 to 2.5 hours if a full set is being attached. Infills will take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour to do.
DO I NEED A PATCH TEST
IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EYELASH EXTENSIONS AND FALSE EYELASHES?
False eyelashes are usually solid strips of lashes that are adhered to the eyelid, whereas eyelash extensions are placed individually on the eyelids. As a result, eyelash extensions will normally last far longer. However, it is important to remember that extensions are usually limited to what your natural eyelashes are able to handle. For example, if your natural lashes are short and/or fine, extensions may not always give you the results you want.
Patch testing on the skin is an outdated method and is not a clear indicator for showing if a reaction will occur or not. Applying a few drops DOES NOT give a clear indication of whether a reaction will occur, this is because of two reasons: 1. A patch test does not give full exposure in the same way a full set of lashes will. 2. Lash adhesive allergies are cumulative, meaning they build up overtime It is more likely for allergies, sensitivities and reactions to occur after you have been having lashes for six months or more this is because the sensitivity will build each time you are exposed to the lash adhesive. It is unlikely (although it is possible) that you will already have an allergy to cyanoacrylate if you have not had been exposed to it before. Note: Nail glue and super glue are chromocyte based This means that a patch test will not accurately for allergies and a reaction could still occur even if the patch test results are fine. If you have any concerns, and would like to have a patch test it is recommended this is carried out by our therapists 48 hours before your treatment. Please book this through our website or ask in salon

BEFORE YOUR NEXT APPOINTMENT
The majority of extensions will stay through a complete cycle if you follow these guidelines:
If you are coming in for a refill and use mascara avoid using it 2-3days before your appointment. The film it leaves on your lashes may prevent the extensions from adhering correctly.
For all refill appointments:
Arrive with your eyes dry, lashes clean and make up free.
Remove contact lenses before your appointment.
DURING THE INITIAL 24HOURS
Do not get your lashes wet for 24hours after the lash extensions are applied. This will give the glue an appropriate amount of time to cure(dry).
Avoid steam from showers, facials, saunas and swimming pools.
Avoid getting moisture around the eye area when washing your face, showering etc.
Avoid tanning beds for 48hours after your application.
Avoid chemical peels, waxing or laser treatment around your eyes.
GENERAL GUIDELINES TO EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR LASHES
Use a lash line cleaner to remove makeup by working gently around the eyelashes.
Take special care around the eye area when cleansing your face.
Gently cleanse the eye area and do not scrub or rub your eyes.
Avoid any type of oil based product around the eyes i.e. mascara and eyeliner. Again, the oils will break down the adhesive and cause the extensions to fall off.
Never pull your eyelash extension off as it will pull out your natural eyelash. If you want them removed contact us for our professional eyelash removal service.
Do not perm or tint your eyelash extensions.
Never use a clam-style eyelash curler on your extensions. This can permanently damage not only the extensions, but your natural eyelashes as well.
Eyelash combs are great for grooming your lashes every morning.
Be sure to schedule an appointment every 2 to 3 weeks for timely touch-ups.
This will keep your lashes looking full and natural, indefinitely.
Avoid running water over your face. Moisture will break down the bond of the glue.
Avoid rubbing your eyes or lashes, especially when washing your face.
It is recommended you clean around the eye area with a washcloth or cotton swab.
Gently Brush your lashes with a mascara wand to groom them. The best time to do this is after showering as they will be softer and less likely to damage.
If you are experiencing any adverse reaction and are unable to contact us for advise, you MUST seek medical attention immediately.
If you have any concerns with your eyes or eyelashes what so ever after your appointment, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. We will correct an abnormalities outside the usually lash cycle within 7 days.
